Bolivia. A world of adventure and wonder.
Bolivia is full of natural beauty in every possible form. It has the world’s largest salt flat, some of the highest mountains in the Andes, sand deserts, volcanoes, geothermal areas with vents and mud pools, lagoons with flamingos, dense jungles, dry Altiplano, and more, all packed into an area about the same size as the 4 corners region of the United States (Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico). It also does all this at an average elevation of 3,805 m (12,500 ft) above sea level. It was much more than I expected. Getting around Bolivia is difficult because there is no direct route to anywhere. The mountains cause a trip that takes 55 minutes in a plane to be 14 hours on a bus and train.
